Profesi Akuntansi dan Tugasnya



PROFESI AKUNTANSI DAN TUGASNYA

Pada dasarnya, profesi akuntansi merupakan sebuah bidang atau cabang pekerjaan yang menekankan pada kemampuan di bidang akuntansi. Tentu bidang ini bukanlah bidang yang sempit karena di dalam profesi akuntansi sendiri, Anda akan menemukan berbagai bidang pekerjaan yang lain seperti pada bidang perpajakan dan juga mengenai perniagaan atau perdagangan yang merupakan tugas seorang akuntan juga untuk mencatat seluruh transaksi tersebut. Sebagai persyaratan utama dari bidang pekerjaan ini, profesi akuntansi sendiri mensyaratkan kemampuan dasar pada bidang akuntansi yang meliputi proses pendidikan yang dilakukan tak hanya pada jurusan akuntansi saja, namun juga telah menempuh pendidikan khusus untuk program profesi akuntansi sehingga seseorang dianggap telah layak untuk mengemban tugas sebagai seorang profesi akuntansi.
Dalam arti sempit, profesi akuntan adalah lingkup pekerjaan yang dilakukan oleh akuntan sebagai akuntan publik yang lazimnya terdiri dari pekerjaan audit, akuntansi, pajak dan konsultan manajemen.
Profesi Akuntan biasanya dianggap sebagai salah satu bidang profesi seperti organisasi lainnya, misalnya Ikatan Dokter Indonesia (IDI). Supaya dikatakan profesi ia harus memiliki beberapa syarat sehingga masyarakat sebagai objek dan sebagai pihak yang memerlukan profesi, mempercayai hasil kerjanya. Adapun ciri profesi adalah sebagai berikut:
  1.  Memiliki bidang ilmu yang ditekuninya yaitu yang merupakan pedoman dalam melaksanakan keprofesiannya.
  2. Memiliki kode etik sebagai pedoman yang mengatur tingkah laku anggotanya dalam profesi itu.
  3.  Berhimpun dalam suatu organisasi resmi yang diakui oleh masyarakat/pemerintah.
  4.  Bekerja bukan dengan motif komersil tetapi didasarkan kepada fungsinya sebagai kepercayaan masyarakat.
Persyaratan ini semua harus dimiliki oleh profesi Akuntan sehingga berhak disebut sebagai salah satu profesi.
Perkembangan profesi akuntansi sejalan dengan jenis jasa akuntansi yang diperlukan oleh masyarakat yang makin lama semakin bertambah kompleksnya. Gelar akuntan adalah gelar profesi seseorang dengan bobot yang dapat disamakan dengan bidang pekerjaan yang lain. Misalnya bidang hukum atau bidang teknik. Secara garis besar Akuntan dapat digolongkan sebagai berikut:
  •  Akuntan Publik (Public Accountants)
Akuntan publik atau juga dikenal dengan akuntan eksternal adalah akuntan independen yang memberikan jasa-jasanya atas dasar pembayaran tertentu. Mereka bekerja bebas dan umumnya mendirikan suatu kantor akuntan. Yang termasuk dalam kategori akuntan publik adalah akuntan yang bekerja pada kantor akuntan publik (KAP) dan dalam prakteknya sebagai seorang akuntan publik dan mendirikan kantor akuntan, seseorang harus memperoleh izin dari Departemen Keuangan. Seorang akuntan publik dapat melakukan pemeriksaan (audit), misalnya terhadap jasa perpajakan, jasa konsultasi manajemen, dan jasa penyusunan sistem manajemen.
  •  Akuntan Intern (Internal Accountant)
Akuntan intern adalah akuntan yang bekerja dalam suatu perusahaan atau organisasi. Akuntan intern ini disebut juga akuntan perusahaan atau akuntan manajemen. Jabatan tersebut yang dapat diduduki mulai dari Staf biasa sampai dengan Kepala Bagian Akuntansi atau Direktur Keuangan. Tugas mereka adalah menyusun sistem akuntansi, menyusun laporan keuangan kepada pihak-pihak eksternal, menyusun laporan keuangan kepada pemimpin perusahaan, menyusun anggaran, penanganan masalah perpajakan dan pemeriksaan intern.
  •  Akuntan Pemerintah (Government Accountants)
Akuntan pemerintah adalah akuntan yang bekerja pada lembaga-lembaga pemerintah, misalnya di kantor Badan Pengawas Keuangan dan Pembangunan (BPKP), Badan Pengawas Keuangan (BPK).
  •  Akuntan Pendidik
Akuntan pendidik adalah akuntan yang bertugas dalam pendidikan akuntansi, melakukan penelitian dan pengembangan akuntansi, mengajar, dan menyusun kurikulum pendidikan akuntansi di perguruan tinggi.
Seseorang berhak menyandang gelar Akuntan bila telah memenuhi syarat antara lain: Pendidikan Sarjana jurusan Akuntansi dari Fakultas Ekonomi Perguruan Tinggi yang telah diakui menghasilkan gelar Akuntan atau perguruan tinggi swasta yang berafiliasi ke salah satu perguruan tinggi yang telah berhak memberikan gelar Akuntan. Selain itu juga bisa mengikuti Ujian Nasional Akuntansi (UNA) yang diselenggarakan oleh konsorsium Pendidikan Tinggi Ilmu Ekonomi yang didirikan dengan SK Mendikbud RI tahun 1976.
Profesi Akuntansi Luar Negeri

Profesi CFA®
Perkembangan yang pesat dari investasi dan keuangan di dunia membutuhkan suatu standar untuk investor dan pemilik perusahaan untuk merekrut profesional dalam bidang investasi dan keuangan. Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) adalah sertifikasi profesi paling terkemuka untuk profesional yang bekerja di bidang keuangan dan investasi. Di Amerika Serikat, memiliki sertifikasi profesi CFA merupakan pencapaian yang sangat tinggi karena material yang diujikan sangat dalam dan praktis dibandingkan dengan gelar lainnya.
Persyaratan CFA
CFA pertama kali diberikan pada tahun 1963. CFA didukung oleh CFA Institute yang memberikan gelar sertifikasi profesi ini untuk profesional di bidang investasi yang memenuhi kriteria sebagai berikut:

1. Profesi (profession)
Pemegang gelar sertifikasi CFA harus memiliki pengalaman profesional sekurang-kurangnya empat tahun dalam industri proses pengambilan keputusan di bidang investasi.
2.Pendidikan (education)
Secara berurutan menyelesaikan ujian Level I, Level II, dan Level III (masing-masing selama 6 jam).
3. Etika (ethics)
Pemegang gelar sertifikasi CFA harus setuju dan terikat oleh kode etik yang atur oleh CFA Institute dan standar profesi yang dilaksanakan.

Profesi CIA® 
Internal Audit adalah proses penilaian independen yang diadakan oleh sebuah organisasi untuk memastikan dan mengevaluasi apakah operasional organisasinya telah berjalan sesuai dengan rencana. Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) merupakan satu-satunya sertifikasi bidang internal audit yang diakui secara internasional. Sertifikasi yang dikeluarkan oleh The Institute of Internal Auditors (The IIA) ini telah berkembang dan dijadikan sebagai pengakuan atas integritas, professionalisme dan kompetensi pemegangnya di bidang internal audit. Orang yang memiliki sertfikasi CIA akan mendapat pengakuan yang tinggi karena sejauh ini program CIA terkenal memiliki standar pengetahuan, integritas dan profesionalisme yang tinggi pula. Ujian CIA dirancang untuk mengukur kompetensi teknis dasar dari internal auditor, antara lain:
Pengetahuan teknis dan aplikasi dari pengetahuan tersebut;
Pemahaman tanggung jawab profesional;
Latihan terhadap keputusan yang baik.
Profesi CPA
Ujian Certified Public Accountant (CPA) merupakan sistem penyaringan yang baku bagi mereka yang akan berpraktik sebagai akuntan publik maupun untuk mereka yang ingin mendapatkan sertifikasi atas kompetensi di bidang akuntansi dengan memperoleh gelar CPA (Certified Public Accountant). Khusus untuk profesi Akuntan Publik, departemen Keuangan Republik Indonesia telah mengeluarkan suatu ketentuan yang mensyaratkan bagi calon Akuntan Publik untuk lulus dari CPA. Keputusan tersebut telah dituangkan dalam Surat Keputusan Menteri Keuangan Republik Indonesia No. 43/KMK.017/1997 tanggal 27 Januari 1997 jo 470/KMK.017/1999 tanggal 4 Oktober 1999.
CISA
Certified Information System Auditors (CISA) adalah program sertifikasi yang menggabungkan antara dunia akuntansi dengan teknologi informasi. Program sertifikasi yang telah disponsori sejak tahun 1978 oleh ICASA ( Information System Audit anda Control Assotiation) ini telah menjadi standar pencapaian di bidang information System Audit, control and security professional yang sudah diterima secara global. Dengan makin meningkatnya penggunaan teknologi informasi di seluruh dunia, maka kesempatan kerja di dalam bidan ini semakin besar.
Bertumbuhnya permintaan akan pekerja profesional yang memiliki keahlian audit. Kontrol dan keamanan dalam teknologi informasi, CISA adalah program sertifikasi yang diutamakan oleh individual dan organisasi di seluruh dunia. Di Indonesia ujian ini dilakukan oleh ISACA chapter Indonesia.
Prinsip etika akuntan atau kode etik akuntan itu meliputi delapan butir pernyataan (IAI, 1998, dalam Ludigdo, 2007). Kedelapan butir pernyataan tersebut merupakan hal-hal yang seharusnya dimiliki oleh seorang akuntan, yaitu :
1. Tanggung jawab profesi : bahwa akuntan di dalam melaksanakan tanggungjawabnya sebagai profesional harus senantiasa menggunakan pertimbangan moral dan profesional dalam semua kegiatan yang dilakukannya.
2. Kepentingan publik : akuntan sebagai anggota IAI berkewajiban untuk senantiasa bertindak dalam kerangka pelayanan kepada publik, menghormati kepentingan publik, dan menunjukkan komitmen atas profesionalisme.
3. Integritas : akuntan sebagai seorang profesional, dalam memelihara dan meningkatkan kepercayaan publik, harus memenuhi tanggung jawab profesionalnya tersebut dengan menjaga integritasnya setinggi mungkin.
4. Obyektifitas : dalam pemenuhan kewajiban profesionalnya, setiap akuntan sebagai anggota IAI harus menjaga obyektifitasnya dan bebas dari benturan kepentingan.
5. Kompetensi dan kehati-hatian profesional : akuntan dituntut harus melaksanakan jasa profesionalnya dengan penuh kehati-hatian, kompetensi, dan ketekunan, serta mempunyai kewajiban untuk mempertahankan pengetahuan dan keterampilan profesionalnya pada tingkat yang diperlukan untuk memastikan bahwa klien atau pemberi kerja memperoleh manfaat dari jasa profesional yang kompeten berdasarkan perkembangan praktik, legislasi, dan teknik yang paling mutakhir.
6. Kerahasiaan : akuntan harus menghormati kerahasiaan informasi yang diperoleh selama melakukan jasa profesional dan tidak boleh memakai atau mengungkapkan informasi tersebut tanpa persetujuan, kecuali bila ada hak atau kewajiban profesional atau hukum untuk mengungkapkannya.
7. Perilaku profesional : akuntan sebagai seorang profesional dituntut untuk berperilaku konsisten selaras dengan reputasi profesi yang baik dan menjauhi tindakan yang dapat mendiskreditkan profesinya.
8. Standar teknis : akuntan dalam menjalankan tugas profesionalnya harus mengacu dan mematuhi standar teknis dan standar profesional yang relevan. Sesuai dengan keahliannya dan dengan berhati-hati, akuntan mempunyai kewajiban untuk melaksanakan penugasan dari penerima jasa selama penugasan tersebut sejalan dengan prinsip integritas dan obyektifitas.

 INTRODUCING ACCOUNTING

            Accounting provides a financial picture a business firm. An accounting department records measures the activity of a business and reports on the effects of these transactions on the firm’s financial condition. Accounting records and reports provided data that are used by management, stockholders, creditors, independent analysts, banks and government.
            The income statement and balance sheet are the two types of records that most business prepare regularly. By reading these statement, once can identify how money was received and spent by a company. By analyzing these records, one can determine whether or not the activities of the company have been good for it.
            One major tool for the analysts of accounting records is ration analysis. A ration analysis is the relationship of two figures. There three main categories of ration in finance. One such ratio deals with profitability. The main example of this is the Return on Investment Ration, which is the most widely used single measure of a firm’s operating efficiency.
            A second set of rations helps a company evaluate its current financial position. These rations deal with assets and liabilities. A third set of rations deans with the overall financial structure of the company, primarily analyzing the values of the ownership of the firm.
